アニエスベー ギャラリー ブティックでは、7月11日(金)から8月31日(日)まで、美術家・マンガ家の横山裕一による個展『ザザザザザ』を開催します。
切れ目なく時間の流れを描く横山は、マンガと現代美術の領域を横断し、疾走感あふれる描線と圧倒的な構成力で、唯一無二の表現世界を築いてきました。本展では、これまでに発表されたマンガ作品集『カラー土木』『ロワ』『アイスランド』の中から、水を想起させるオノマトペに着目し、いくつかのエピソードやページを選び出して、新たな視点から再構成・展示します。
「ザザザザザ」「ザザー」「ザーザー」……。横山がコマを横断して描く、微細に異なる音の粒立ちは、海を切り進む船の水音、浜辺に寄せる波、雪をかき分ける動き、降りしきる雨など、自然界における多様な“動き”を呼び起こします。画面に刻まれた動きのリズムは速いのか、遅いのか、その瞬間にどのような力が作用しているのか。そして、その前後に続く時間の流れまでもが、言葉と視覚の交錯によって立ち現れます。
断片やループとしても読めるページの連なりによって構成された本展では、「音」を媒介に作品同士がゆるやかにつながり合います。絵が動き出し、次から次へとコマが進んでいくような、横山作品ならではの読解体験とともに、自然の様相を言葉でとらえ、表現することの純粋な楽しさを、来場者に体感していただけます。
また、1994年から続くアニエスベーのアーティストTシャツシリーズ「T-shirts d’artistes!」に、今回横山が初参加。2種類のコラボレーションTシャツが、国内外のアニエスベー各店にて展開されます。さらに、8月23日(土)には、横山と親交の深い美術家・西武アキラ氏によるワークショップも開催予定です。こちらも本展とあわせて、ご注目ください。
アーティストプロフィール
美術家、マンガ家
1967年宮崎県生まれ。武蔵野美術大学油絵科卒業。ファインアートの制作を行っていたが、2000年以降「時間が表現できる」とマンガを発表。後に「ネオ漫画」と称される独創的な作品は、様々な分野で高い評価を得る。マンガ作品集に『ニュー土木』『トラベル』『世界地図の間』『ルーム』『アイスランド』等。画集に『横山裕一カラー画集』『ファッションと密室』『ISI PRESS vol.3 Yuichi Yokoyama』等。欧米でも翻訳出版されている。2016年『世界が妙だ！立石大河亞＋横山裕一の漫画と絵画』(広島市現代美術館)、2018年グループ展『CHILDHOOD: Another banana day for the dream-fish』(パレ・ド・トーキョー、パリ、フランス)等国内外の個展、グループ展多数。

西武アキラ Akira Nishitake
実験漫画家。愛媛生まれ。マンガの仕組みを使って絵画・アニメーション・書体デザイン・AR(拡張現実)・陶芸など媒体や分野を横断して、国内外で活動。アジア各地のアートブックフェアや美術館で発表を続けている。イラストレーターとしては妖怪やオリジナルキャラクターTONGOのグッズ等の制作も多数。マンガグループCHOJIN CLUBを主催し、ZINEの発行や展覧会の企画なども行っている。

agnès b. galerie boutique is pleased to present ZAZAZAZAZA, a solo exhibition by Yuichi Yokoyama , running from Friday 11 July to Sunday 31 August.
Renowned for his depictions of time as an unbroken flow, Yokoyama moves fluidly between the fields of manga and contemporary art. With his dynamic, high-velocity linework and striking compositional sense, he has built a singular, unmistakable visual universe. This exhibition reconfigures and presents selected episodes and pages from his previously published collections—Colour Engineering, Roy, and Iceland—focusing on onomatopoeia that evoke the sensation of water, offering a new perspective on his work.
“ZaZaZaZaZa”, “ZaZaa”, “ZaaZaa”… The subtly nuanced sounds that Yokoyama draws across his frames evoke a wide array of natural movements: the splash of a ship cutting through the sea, waves lapping at the shore, the swish of snow being pushed aside, or the steady fall of rain. These sonic impressions conjure the rhythm of movement within each panel—whether fast or slow—suggesting the forces at work in that specific moment. Through the interplay of text and image, even the passage of time before and after that instant begins to take shape.
Comprising pages that can be read as fragments or loops, the exhibition features works gently linked through the medium of sound. Visitors are invited to experience the unique interpretative rhythm of Yokoyama’s world—where images seem to move and frames progress in succession—while also discovering the pure pleasure of expressing the phenomena of nature through language.
For the first time, Yokoyama joins T-shirts d’artistes!, agnès b.’s long-standing artist T-shirt series launched in 1994. Two collaborative designs will be available in agnès b. stores in Japan and internationally. In addition, a special workshop will be held on Saturday 23 August, led by artist Akira Nishitake, a close friend of Yokoyama. We invite you to enjoy these events alongside the exhibition.
Artist Profile
Artist, Manga Creator
Born in Miyazaki Prefecture in 1967, Yuichi Yokoyama graduated from Musashino Art University with a degree in oil painting. Originally working in fine art, he began creating manga in the early 2000s, drawn to its potential to express time. His highly original works—later described as “neo-manga”—have been widely acclaimed across various disciplines. His manga publications include New Engineering, Travel, World Map Room, Room, and Iceland. His art books include Yuichi Yokoyama Colour Works, Fashion and Sealed Rooms, and ISI PRESS vol.3 Yuichi Yokoyama, among others. Many of his works have been translated and published internationally.Yokoyama has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including The World is Strange! Manga and Paintings by Takaaki Taiga Tateishi + Yuichi Yokoyama (Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, 2016), and CHILDHOOD: Another banana day for the dream-fish (Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2018).

It’s an art work and at the same time you live with it, sleep with it, and as it gets worn you become even more attached to it, you lose it and someone else finds it, so it gets around. Even if it is an object that in itself does not have a lot of value, you attach a lot of value to it because it has special significance. It’s a fantastic vehicle for an art work, for ideas and even for a joke but it is also a way of asserting oneself.

Akira Nishitake
Experimental manga artist, born in Ehime, Japan. Akira Nishitake explores the structure of manga through a wide range of media and disciplines, including painting, animation, type design, augmented reality (AR), and ceramics. He actively exhibits his work both in Japan and abroad, particularly at art book fairs and museums across Asia.As an illustrator, he has created numerous products featuring yōkai (Japanese folk monsters) and his original character TONGO. He also runs the manga collective CHOJIN CLUB, through which he publishes ZINEs and organizes exhibitions.
